It's Quite (P)interesting!

Do you ever feel like there are just too many social media content and applications to utilize and keep up with?  Social networking sites like Facebook, professional networking sites like LinkedIn, and microblogs like Twitter, are joined by internet forums, podcasts, videocasts and so on.  And then we have our "regular" blogs.

I try to make it easy - I blog, and that is it.

Or, rather, that was it until I met Pinterest.

Reluctant at first to even look at another outlet, I finally gave it a try and now I am hooked!  Of course, pinning is a lot less challenging and faster than crafting a meaningful blog entry or participating in a (sometimes heated) forum discussion, but still it is another chunk of time away from the other activities and sleep.

Pinterest is unique in that it allows you to focus on various interests at the same time - pinning book covers to photos to house photos and much more.  I am having excessive amounts of fun pinning book covers...

Have you checked it out yet?  What do you think?

  1. I haven't tried this yet. I always resist things at first. LOL. That and I'm on so many sites it's crazy.

  2. I looked at dogs, recipes and tree houses just to get inspired to do something besides just writing. Check out cupcakes and then tell me what you think. I will look at book covers too. Thanks for the idea.

    1. I love the cupcakes - especially Cupcake 28 - icing inside and out!! Why didn't I think of that!

  3. I'm not planning on trying it out because it will just be another distraction keeping me from getting back to my writing. I've been adamant I will do it before this summer and I'm going to stick to that.

A co-worker uses it and so do many of my Facebook friends and family members. They are all addicted to it. :) So I KNOW I can't go anywhere near that site.

    1. I know, that is why I resisted everything else, too much time taken away already. But this one is fun for me, allowing me to explore many interest at once.

With you on FB - I tried but can't do personally (only for business).

  4. I was reluctant to try it at first too because I'm on a lot of other social media but I love it. It's so helpful in my world building process and for researching book cover ideas. I'm a huge nerd anyway so I love playing with social media.

    1. I think picking one or two that we like or find useful is probably the best bet. I stick with blogging and Pinterest when it comes to writing (and other apps for business - Twitter is great for that, I think)

  7. Not tried it yet but I may give it a go. Like you, I feel overburdened by social networking anyway so I am reluctant to take on anything else. But.... Who knows...

    1. Overburdened is the right word! But Pinterest seems to inspire, so that is good.

  8. My sister-in-law sucked me into Pinterest not too long ago. It's fun but BOY, it can be a real drain on my time.

    1. I believe that - the other night I was just going to check and post one photo I took of a cupcake I made, and ended up over 2 hours on Pinterest posting house photos.... and then I complain I have no time :-)

  9. Once I finish innovating a standard day to stretch for 25 hours, I wouldn't mind dedicating an hour checking it out.

    1. Wouldn't that be nice. I'd like 48 hours a day even more.

  10. Yes. Too much social media to keep up with. I think that's why I haven't found Pinterest as addicting as most people. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time there? I don't know what it is exactly, but I haven't stumbled onto its magic...

    1. I admit, over the last few days I have been using it more to pursue other interests, such as architecture. And it's so easy...

  11. I've signed up for Pinterest, but haven't taken the time to get on yet! Like you said, I'm bogged down enough just trying to keep up with writing and my blog!! But I hear oodles of good things about Pinterest, I might need to break down and give it a try!

It is good for inspiration, if you are looking for cover ideas and so forth.

  12. I've edged over that way a couple of times, but haven't signed up... I'm worried I'll get addicted... like with twitter when I said I would just used it a bit. Yup famous last words. But you make an important point. When are all the social media programs out there too much?
